Gembird Europe BV was founded in 1997 in the Netherlands by a team of IT professionals with the intention of becoming a market leader in computer accessories and peripherals. From the very beginning, the company's strategy was to develop its own innovative computer products: Silver shield, Flexi-Drive, Maxxtro, eMic, Energenie, e-paper printer, many of which were awarded for innovation in computer magazines PC World, PC Go, ComputerBild and at exhibitions electronics: CES, IFA.

The company's European headquarters are located in the Netherlands. Official representative offices operate in Germany, France, Spain, Greece, Russia, and Ukraine.
